Serious Disorder in Point England – Officer Injured

by New Zealand Police

At about 5am this morning Police were called to a major disorder incident in Taurimu Avenue Point England where a large group of drunken people had spilled onto the street from a party.

When a Police patrol arrived a group who had been fighting in the street turned upon the officers and attacked them.  One officer  received head injuries after being hit by a flying bottle.

Reinforcements were called and staff from the Auckland Team Policing unit and units from Counties-Manukau and North Shore districts were called in to assist.

In the process of clearing the street and the party address 5 people were arrested for a range of disorder related offences. It was not possible to identify the people responsible for throwing the bottles.

The injured offcer required medical treatment to a gash to the head.
