Police are “speaking with” five teenagers after a ram-raid on Great South Rd in Auckland’s Takanini overnight.
“At 12.48am a stolen vehicle was used to gain entry into a liquor store,” a police spokesperson said this morning.
“Offenders entered the store and stole alcohol before leaving in another stolen vehicle.”
Police said four vehicles were stolen overnight.
The owner of Thoroughbred Liquor Centre, the affected store, told 1News the incident was “horrible”.
He said the store was left in a mess, with even the building’s plumbing damaged, and he wasn’t sure if he would continue his business.
He said he had previously tried to get bollards installed by the police, and had been declined as the store didn’t qualify.
The youths are aged between 13 and 16, and police enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
