Armed police, helicopter respond to South Auckland stabbing

Armed police rushed to the scene last night after a man was found critically injured with stab wounds in South Auckland.

A man “was located with critical injuries” at a property on Papatoetoe’s Wallace Rd at about 9pm, police said.

“Another man known to the victim is assisting police with our enquiries and no one else is being sought at this time.

“A forensic examination is due to take place today,” a spokesperson said this morning.

Police said the person has stab wounds.

“Armed police responded to the incident and Air Support Unit Eagle assisted provided aerial support to staff on the ground.”

A St John spokesperson confirmed an ambulance attended the scene.

“Our crews assessed and treated one patient who was transported to Middlemore Hospital in a critical condition.”
