A Tongan man with felony convictions in Hawai’i has been arrested by ICE agents.

It was part of the Hawaii law enforcement raiding locations across Oahu daily, targeting those with criminal records, Hawai’i News Now (HNN)reported.
The news outlet said Mitieli Takitaki Jr of Tonga, has felony convictions over the last 10 years for drug crimes, robbery, and driving a stolen vehicle.
The Honolulu office of Homeland Security Investigations posted photos online showing ICE and DEA agents arresting immigrants this weekend.
Law enforcement sources reportedly said at least six people were taken into custody.
The paper also said that on Sunday, at around noon, residents on Palani Avenue in the Kapahulu area reported two unmarked vans with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents taking one of their neighbours into custody.
A neighbour told HNN Takitaki “is a nice guy”.
An attorney for several of those arrested on Sunday told HNN they had prior removal orders and were in hiding.
“Their top priorities right now is individuals with final removal order or they have criminal convictions,” the immigration and criminal attorney Gary Singh told HNN.
State lawmakers are drafting bills to block raids at schools, churches or hospitals.
Hawaii’s attorney general said federal authorities are on their own with deportation efforts.
“Hawaii and my department will not participate in any activities with the federal government. If in doing so, we are not enforcing the rule of law,” said state Attorney General Anne Lopez.
The news follows reports that 151 Tongans had been listed as part of the 1.4 million deportees ICE was targeting under the immigration crackdown.
Hawaii has the largest percentage or second highest, after Utah, of Tongan Americans, with 8,496 people of Tongan descent, making up 0.6 percent of Hawaiian residents. There are 1,000 Tongans in Honolulu, 0.3 percent of the city.
