Fire and Emergency NZ are attending the scene of a large building fire in Onehunga this evening.
Local resident Gina Lio told 1News she could “smell smoke” inside her house at about 5.30pm.
It was then she walked outside and saw the building on fire across the road.
Comments on social media reported the building is a hair salon, and is located across the road from Brick by Brick café on Onehunga Mall Road.
Fire and Emergency NZ said it was called to the scene around 5.30pm, sending multiple crews. The blaze was extinguished by 6.30pm.
Police said officers are in the are assisting with road closures around the blaze.
