Ha‘apai Police were investigating after acres of watermelon farm at Pangai were destroyed.
Reports said the plantation belonged to brothers Touliki and Tevita Talia’uli from Fotuha’a and Nomuka.
Videos shared on Facebook recently showed one of the brothers and his family inspecting the damage in disbelief.
It is understood the vandal or vandals apparently used machetes during the sabotage.
Driver charged after man’s death
A 74-year-old man has been charged after the death of a Tongan man who resided in Samoa.
‘Aloisio Kaitapu of Tu’atākilangi has been accused of the death of Mesui Vaiomo’unga, 63, on June 17.
As Kaniva News reported at the time, Vaiomo’unga had just arrived in Tonga to join the FWC Church annual conference.
He died in hospital two days later after being hit by a vehicle on the ‘Alaivahamama’o Bypass Rd, at Longolongo.
Man electrocuted at car wash.
A man died as a result of an accidental electrocution following an incident at a Kolofo’ou car wash.
Sione Pouono, 42, of Kolomotu’a died from his injury.
Police were investigating the incident.
Rubbish dumped at Ha’ateiho sparks outrage
A roadside rubbish dumping near a school at Ha’ateino has caused outrage this morning.
The waste, photographed this morning, was left near Upper Room school.
It has been claimed a vehicle with “P” registration plate was spotted at the scene.
Government vehicles use the “P” letter before numbers on their license plates.
