These two short original songs were composed as practical works through which I will begin testing Punake Theory. They are presented in the Tongan numerical notation system known as tuʻungafasi—the practice of notating and staffing music through numbers organised into rows and columns. Two audio recordings of the songs are also embedded on this page. The two songs are titled Peau 1 and Peau 2, reflecting the use of peau (waves) as a figure of speech, or heliaki, in the application’s questions-and-answers document. All notation, lyrics, and audio presented here are preliminary and subject to substantial development and revision throughout the six-month Fellowship. They are intended solely as initial creative experiments through which the ideas proposed for the Fellowship can be tested.
